The residential network (ResNet) utilizes network access control (NAC) to maintain a safe and robust network environment for residents. The NAC helps to make sure that all computers connecting to the network are reasonably well-protected against viruses and other malware.
The previous NAC used in ResNet, Clean Access, was replaced by a new system, CounterACT, in July 2011. Despite the new system, returning students will notice that the requirements for accessing the network will remain essentially the same.

All students are required to log into the network, and students whose computer fails to meet the minimum requirements will be guided through self-remediation. Further details about CounterACT and the self-remediation process will be provided here later this summer.
Uninstalling the Clean Access Agent
If you previously lived on campus and have the Clean Access Agent installed on your computer, we recommend you uninstall it.
Windows users: Quit the Cisco NAC Agent (if running). Then go to Start -> Programs -> Cisco Systems -> Cisco Clean Access -> Uninstall Clean Access Agent.
Macintosh users: Quit the Cisco Clean Access Agent (if running). Then follow these 3 steps:
- Drag the Agent application to the trash can. The Agent application is located in /Applications/CCAAgent.app.
- Drag the Agent log folder to the trash can. The Agent log folder is located in /Home folder/Library/Application Support/Cisco Systems.
- Drag the Agent installation receipt to the trash can. The Agent installation receipt (if one exists) is located in /Library/Receipts/CCAAgent.pkg.
