The ResNet team accepts employment applications from students throughout the year, with most hiring done in April (for Fall semester) and November (for Spring semester). Ideal applicants demonstrate a good mix of technical and "people" skills. The current pay rate for students working at ResNet is $10.25 per hour.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Work at ResNet help desk, providing walk-in, phone and in-room support (network and desktop) to residents
  • Assist students in maintaining a safe computing environment
  • Assist in the maintenance of residence hall computer labs
  • Diagnose and resolve a variety of issues such as those listed below...
Software issues
Adware/Spyware removal and prevention
Anti-virus installation
Virus removal/prevention
System updates
System restores
   
Miscellaneous
Email password changes
Hardware issues
Hard drive installation
Assistance with student-owned peripherals (i.e. printers, scanners, etc.)
Data recovery from damaged media
Screen replacement
   
Network issues
Connectivity problems
Device registration

Qualifications:

  • Intimate knowledge of Windows and/or Mac operating systems
  • Familiarity with iOS and/or Android
  • Strong desire to help other students
  • Experience installing hard drives or other components
  • Experience installing and configuring anti-virus software
  • Experience troubleshooting PC problems and installing drivers
  • Good problem-solving skills -- ability to follow through
